Exploring the Amazon Rainforest in Peru

Hi again, I was hoping to get some advice on whether it is possible to explore the Amazon while in Peru? I don't associate Peru with rainforest, but apparently it is a good gateway to the jungle... Which city or town is best used as a gateway to the Amazon, and what kind of options are there for tours into the rainforest? Thanks!

    Hi Wren,
Nearly half of Peru lies in the Amazon Basin and it is a great country to visit if you want a rainforest adventure. The best gateway to the Amazon in Peru is the northern city of Iquitos, which is the largest city in the basin, situated on the Amazon River. Iquitos is only accessible by air or water. From Iquitos it is easy to organise various tours into the jungle.
