Multi-day hiking trails in Australia

edited May 2014 in - Australia
Hi! I'm doing some research into multi-day hikes in Australia. I don't really mind which state - I'll be picking the trail as opposed to picking the region. I have heard Tasmania has some good hikes? Can anybody offer some advice?

  • Hi Mike,
Australia is a really good hiking destination (they call it bushwalking), but I imagine you know that. Here are some famous multi-day trails for you to Google: Thorsborne Trail (Queensland), Fraser Island Great Walk (Queensland), the Wilderness Coast Walk (Victoria and New South Wales), and the challenging Larapinta Trail (Northern Territory).
Tasmania is definitely one of the best scenic hiking destinations in Australia: The Overland Track, the Eastern Arthur Range, the Western Arthur Range Traverse, and the South Coast Track are celebrated trails in Tasmania.
I hope that gives you some ideas!
