Overstaying visa in Canada

my son in law is here to visit  his ticket was from july 9 to july19   he decided to stay   does he have to tell anyone  or can he stay  and if so  how long can he extend his stay in canada    he is from england

  • British citizens do not require a visa for Canada for stays of up to six months (though he does need a valid passport). So he should be fine.  
  • There should be a stamp in his passport saying how long he can stay. He can extend the date up to 6 months if he wasn't already given 6 months.
