Staying just outside Paris

edited November 2008 in - France
Just trying to figure out a way to stay close to Paris without spending a fortune! Am happy to travel by train daily up to 40 minutes to visit the city.
Even an apartment style or B&B would be a good option.
Deciding on 2 dates either FEb or May 09.

    Hi Tania,

Paris is very expensive, and even if you don't mind taking the train, you would probably struggle to find a very cheap place to sleep. And to be honest, the train to Paris (even more than the metro) is not really fun.
If you're not afraid of going to someone's place try the "couch surfing":
Otherwise, you can find cheap hotels in Paris and around here:

Ok, as I said Paris is expensive. But it is really really beautiful... I hope you will enjoy it.
    I hope it helps
    Good luck!

    Hi Tania,
You can maybe try some aparthotels in Corbevieu which is just outside paris and by the river seine. Here there are some good hotels life Hitel IBIS and Citadines (La defense area) which offer you very good rates...especially as compared to one in Paris. It also depends as to how much you want to spend in case you are looking for hotels. Normally within city it would cost you close to 250 euros per night whereas here in courbeviou it costs only close to 120 euros! And the best part is this place is just 15 minutes away from the champs elysees by metro which is the most happening and central place of Paris! So you can maybe look at these options.

I do not frequent this website so much, so in case you have any further queries you can contact me at [email protected] I am staying at La defense area only!

me and my husband r going to paris in the first week of march...are the hotels in porte de clichy safe for us? what wil be the weather in march?? wil it rain or snow and in turn affect our sight seeing? pleassseeee help.....
  • I was in Paris two weeks ago. I stay outside Paris in a really cheap hotel which has a free shuttle to the RER train into the heart of Paris. I take my customers on antiquing tours in Europe. I put my clients in the city and put myself in the cheap hotel where I can park the van free. Try the Premiere Classe Roissy hotel on rue du belle etoile in Roissy. They also have a free shuttle to pick you up at the airport. The rate is 35 E if you book in advance. If you want to stay in the inner city, there are cheap hotels under $100 if you search. Try Venere and the ryanair cheap hotels link. If you like antique shopping, check out my site:
