Is tap water potable in Costa Rica?

edited February 12 in - Central America
I have a question guys. Is tap water potable in Costa Rica? I’m going on tour there and my immediate worry is if the tap water is safe to drink in there. I’ve read some posts online that it is, but I can never be too sure.

I’ve had a bad case of stomach flu before and since then I’ve had a very sensitive stomach. I don’t want to experience that again. Do you guys think it’s okay to drink tap during my trip? It would save me quite some money if I don’t buy bottled water. Will appreciate your two cents on this. Thanks.

Tap water in Costa Rica is drinkable and, in many areas of the country, quite good. However, if you have a sensitive stomach, it's recommended to refrain from drinking the tap water. To play it safe, visit any supermarket and buy bottled water
