Malawi holiday ideas

edited September 2009 in - Southern Africa
I used to live in Malawi and would like to go back there on holiday with my husband. Where are the best places to stay at the lake these days? And is there much to see and do in Lilongwe now? Any suggestions would be great, thanks.

    Hi Symone.
I have the same plans as you.
Lived in Malawi together with my family early 1972-74. We lived in Mpwepwe(Near Mangochi) and later in Monkey Bay.
My plan is to fly in to Lilongwe, hire a car and drive down to Cape Maclear and Mangochi area. I will try to book a hotel at Cape Maclear and later Club Macakola. Nice places in the past and i think they are even better now??
Wondering if you have made your trip by now???

Hi, I wish to open a small bar restaurant in Blantyre or another part of Malawi and am interested in finding out how easy it is to live and operate a business like this in Malawi. Ie; visas, work permits, leasing premises, licences required. Is there anyone there or anywhere that has experience of doing business in Malawi?

Hey, can someone share about the Budget hotel in Lilongwe? How do you compare it to familiar places like, let's say Korean Garden Lodge?
