Skiing for beginners in Mid December

edited October 2009 in Skiing
I'm looking to go skiing with my 2 sons ( 12 and 9) in the week of 14th December or so, in Europe.
We are all beginners, and am looking to get lessons for us all and hire gear of course.
We want value for money but not cheap, and easy access to the ski fields as we are not experienced.
We are looking to go for 3-5 days.
Does anyone have suggestions taking into account our experience and the time of year?

You should definitely consider resorts that are higher up like Zermatt in Switzerland where snow is guaranteed all year round.
These days lower resorts may not have enough snow.

  • Obergurgl and Sölden in Tyrol / Austria are the first resorts that open in Winter. They normally start in November and close by the End of April. You will always find good conditions there.
