Boat from Koh Samui to Surat Thani

edited October 2009 in - Thailand
I'm travelling to Thailand coming february 2010.
During my trip, it is my plan to take a boat from Koh Samui to Surat Thani, and transferring to the airport to pick a car which is already arranged for me.

Does anyone know wether it is possible (or indeed necessary) to book a ticket in advance for the boattrip?
Or is it just a matter of showing up, and taking the boat?

Any info would be appreciated.

You can book the ferry from Ko Samui to Surat Thani from any local travel agent in Ko Samui, and one day ahead is enough; you can even ask your hotel reception staff to book it for you. The ferry ticket includes hotel pick up as well.

    Have a nice trip.

Yeah ferrys between the main land and most of the islands run daily and easy to book. If you also want to go up to one of the islands this is possible too and always nice to see a different island. Koh Samui is the biggest of the 3 east coast islands and most developed.
Nice to get away from the madding crowds sometimes and booking accomidation is easy on arrival anywhere in Thailand.
