New Orleans Carnival/Mardi Gras

edited December 2009 in - USA
I am planning a trip to New Orleans in February for Carnival/Mardi Gras and am looking for cheap, clean, decent accommodation. Does anyone have any suggestions? And also, any ideas on the best places to eat, other things to see and do etc.? Thanks, much appreciated.

Google New Orleans Fine Hotels. They have a list of hotels to suit most budgets. Enjoy Mardi Gras. I'm going to be there from UK and can't wait.

Also Sarah, for a reasonably priced meal GordonBiersch Brewery Restaurant does fabulous "sandwiches" that are very generous and filling.I came away feeling like I'd had 3course dinner!Nice atmosphere and good service. Walk along Canal Street towards River Walk Market Place on your left and Harrah's Hotel/Casino on your right and you can't miss it ahead of you. I'm on facebook if you want to swap info. As a single female traveller I found lots of places to eat and listen to great music. People were so friendly and I always felt safe.
