Thailand passport requirements

edited November 2010 in - Thailand
I am a US citizen and I'm trying to find out what the passport requirements are for Thailand. I've looked on several different sites and have gotten conflicting information. I currently don't have a passport and am planning a trip for 3 months from now. Do I need to have had a passport for at least 6 months to go there,or does it just need to be more than 6 months from expiring? I do have a government no-fee passport that is about 8 months old, if I can't get a regular one in time, can I use that?

You will need a valid (US blue cover) passport that will not expire within a period of 6 months from your date of entry into Thailand.

If on government buiness and if coming to Thailand to carry out government business alone, you can use a maroon or black cover US passport.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip!
