Travelling AFrica with Temporary Passport

edited November 2010 in Visa and Passport
Hi there,

I have a question regarding travelling with two passports. I am leaving for a backpacking trip up the coast of East Africa on Sunday. The trip will start in South Africa (country of residence), then on to Mozambique, Malawi, Tanzania, Kenya and back to Dar es Salaam to fly back to Johannesburg. I recently washed my passport and have managed to get a temporary South African passport which i will be travelling on into Mozambique. However i have also applied for a normal passport that will be ready in 2 weeks or so. I am wanting to get the new passport couriered up to me while i am in Mozambique so i can travel on that for the rest of the trip. Do you know if this is possible? Am i allowed to exit SOuth Africa on a temporary passport but re-enter on a normal travel passport?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
