Safety in Dublin

edited November 2010 in - Britain and Ireland
Hi - we have seen news reports of strikes and protests in Dublin, Ireland, and bombs in Northern Ireland. Is it currently safe to visit Ireland? What is the safety situation like in Dublin and Ireland generally?

Ireland is one of the safest places in the world to travel now that the Peace Process in Nothern Ireland is in place.
Dublin's O'Connell Street is not great after 12 at night and in the Temple Bar area you need to watch your bags. Be careful to check with a local before booking accommodation in Dublin - many look nice on the internet but may be located in doggy (or noisy) areas.
