Yellow Fever and Manous Amazon Brazil - do I need a yellow fever certificate

edited December 2010 in - Brazil
Hello, I will be going to Brazil in a little over a week. Our first stop is the Amazon. Does anybody know about the incidence of Yellow Fever in that region of the Amazon? I am very healthy and do not take vaccinations as a rule. I have been advised to get the Yellow Fever Vaccination. Is there anybody out there that refused to take it and then what? Do I need yellow fever certificate for Brazil? Thanks for any help you can offer.

  • You only need the yellow fever vaccination officially if you are entering Brasil from a neighbouring country like Colombia. In that case you will need to show evidence of having had it at least 10 days previously. As for whether there is any yellow fever in the Amazon I have never heard of any casesand I don't get vaccinated when I go there. Feel free to get in touch with us at Hidden Pousadas Brazil if you need any more information. Cheers, Alison
