Does my passport have to be valid for 6 months to enter Ghana?

edited January 2011 in Visa and Passport
On the Ghanaian High Commission website it mentions that to apply for a tourist visa you have to have a valid passport. My passport is valid till 3 months after return from Ghana. However, in a travelbook I read that a passport has to be valid for 6 months. Does anyone know?

Generally having a passport valid for six months after your return date is best. Some official sources will state differently but the trouble generally comes when you're at passport control once you've landed and they don't want to let you into the country. If possible it's better to be safe than sorry - try and get a new passport or a temporary passport. If that's not an option then call the Ghanaian High Commission and ask them - if they say it's fine then ask them to email you confirmation and print the email out so that you have it in writing.
