I need a good ski resort to honeymoon at!

edited October 2008 in - USA
My finance and I want to go skiing for our honeymoon. She has never been skiing before. I have only skied Vail. We want a resort that has a good mix of beginner, intermediate, and advanced slopes. She likes to shop, so a sweet village would be cool too. Please let me know what you think. Also let me know if you have any ideas of where to stay in the village. I was thinking about Heavenly, Lake Tahoe.

    Hey Chris,
I can recommend Mont Tremblant in Quebec - really pretty little village right on the slope, great romantic chalets, and the lots of quaint little bars and coffee shops. Saw plenty of lovebirds flying around the slopes! Also just voted this one of their "best ski bargains". Another good bet on the eats coast is Whiteface, near Lake Placid. Taos is also a good bet, with quieter ski slopes and a more laid back culture that fits better with a honeymoon vibe!
    Enjoy, wherever you go!!

    Ja Chris

I like Sun Valley, ID. Maybe a little too glam for some, maybe not enough for others, but it has a down to earth feel if you mix in with the locals. A wild west past that has an fun feel, like Jackson Hole, WY. Both Sun Valley and Jackson cater to novice and expert skiiers.

  • I'm a big fan of Tahoe, spent 6 months at Heavenly when I was 21 - excellent all-round slopes for beginners to advanced and californian sunshine is hard to beat. The town is real nice too with casinos, bars, clubs and decent shopping, like anywhere decent though it's the people that make the place. The scenery is fantastic and I would love to go back someday. The reosrt is huge with a great transport network and shuttles every 15 minutes to take you from the bottom of the slopes to the town and across to other slopes. It's very down to earth dispite the name - defineitely recommend it.

I think Tahoe offers the best skiing in the states. A great place to stay is the Stardust Vacation Resort ( It is directly across from the Heavenly Gondola and the Heavenly Village. The Heavenly Village offers lots of great shopping and restaurants. All of their rooms are suites and you won't find a better deal for the cost...around $100 bucks a night.

Skiing...The Tahoe basin has more ski resorts than the entire state of Colorado. Heavenly is great, Kirkwood rocks, Sierra is fun for beginners, really, you have so many great resorts to choose from. I lived in Tahoe for many, many years and I can assure you, you won't be disappointed.

    Congrats on your marriage!

    Hello Chris,

Tahoe is definitely a great choice for your honeymoon ski vacation with its breathtaking scenery, warm sunshine and incredible skiing and snowboarding in deep powder and of course the beautiful blue Lake Tahoe itself.
You can also consider staying in a vacation rental in Lake Tahoe. Check out these vacation homes :

    Have a great vacation!

I would suggest Whistler in Vancouver, Canada. It's a great place to ski, relax and shop.

Have you thought about the NorthEast? Check out Loon! I spend 4 months there - it's a great resort - awesome variety and really great instructers.

Hi, if you are planning to go on holidays with your fiance then I would suggest that you either go to Switzerland or the Alps, I know it sounds cliched but its really worth. You can stay there at the Scott Dunn Ski Chalets. They provide all the facilities you are looking for. Anyways have a great time where you go. Cause the point is being together then wherever it may be. Enjoy!

Why not go for the gold and sweep her off her feet to the Ritz Carlton in Tahoe?
