Visa requirements forSouth Africans traveling by St.Martin island

edited February 2011 in World Wide
Can someone shed light on my situation PLEASE

I'm a South African that will be doing a Caribbean Cruise. On this cruise will have a one-day visit to the island of St. Martin, only a day visit, no stay over. Do I really need a Shengen Visa to go onto this island for the day?

In the World Travel requirements it states that you need a Shengen visa to enter Netherlands Antilles. As far as I know St. Marteen is the Dutch owned part so do you need this Shengen for the French owned St. Martin part?

All really very confusing, can someone please shed some light on my dilemma?

Thank you so much

Hi, I am exactly in the same boat now. Did you ever get an answer as to whether not not you needed a visa travelling to St Maarten on a cruise? On a South African Passport.

    PLEASE let me know.

    Thank you kindly
