Vegetarian options in the Seychelles

edited December 2011 in - Indian Ocean Islands
What are the options for vegetarians in the Seychelles? Will I have a hard time finding good food? We are going to the Seychelles on a honeymoon in April - is it easy to find vegetarian dishes in restaurants or take-aways? Or would you recommend rather going to the supermarkets instead?

  • For anyone still wondering about vegetarian options in the Seychelles, I'd say that it shouldn't be a problem for most people. While the Creole diet is high in fish, you'll also find that fruit, rice, vegetables, and salads are also popular. Additionally, some restaurants in the more touristy spots (such as near Beau Vallon on Mahé) offer typical holiday food such as pizza or chips.

One good solution can be to check with your hotel beforehand and see if they offer breakfast. Many do, and this will likely be vegetarian-friendly, so you can eat your fill in the mornings, and then either self-cater for lunch and dinner or explore the restaurant options.

Certainly, the Seychelles is a great destination for all, and not eating meat or fish won't spoil your holiday at all!
