hill tribes in thailand

Where is the best place to go to see hill tribes in thailand? i mean like those women with the rings around their necks and stuff. where do they live? can you just like rock up at their village or do you need a guide? are there hill tribes near bangkok or do i have to go to chiang mai?

    The Karen hilltribe long neck villages which you are referring to, can be visited from Chiang Mai (not Bangkok) please note these villages have been set up for tourists and so will require an entrance fee. The Karen long neck, are not native to Thailand, but are refugees from Burma/Myanmar and have been living in Thailand for decades now. You don't need a guide, you just need transport there.
