Best hotels in Cape Town for families with babies

edited September 2012 in - Southern Africa
Hello, we are planning a trip to Cape Town shortly and will be bringing a six-month old baby. We are looking for a hotel which accommodates babies and offers a babysitting service. We would consider a b and b also. Look forward to getting any advice. Many thanks, M.

Hi Mathieu - here are some ideas:

Beaumont House in Upper Claremont (Southern Suburbs) is a good option. It only has five bedrooms and they can supply cots, high chairs and have a kids menu and will organise babysitters for when you want to go out.

Twelve Apostles. Between Camps Bay and Llandudno, this five star hotels caters for kids and provides a babysitting service as well as cots and high chairs.

Welgelegen. This 13 room hotel is on Kloof Street in the centre of Cape Town. They have two larger rooms that can sleep up to three or four guests and they will supply cots and high chairs. Babysitting is charged at R30–R40 an hour (around £3).

Mount Nelson Hotel, Gardens, Cape Town. This famous five star hotel with a large garden in the centre of Cape Town, the Mount Nelson also caters for kids, for example they offer complimentary hot milk for babies, kids menus, milk and cookies at bedtime and a program of activities, such as cricket matches, face painting, story-telling, swimming, games and treasure hunts. Baby sitting service is offered and they will even supply an xbox!

It is always worth checking the child policy for hotels as many, understandably simply do not allow small children or babies as they cater for relaxed romantic breaks.
