I would recommend finding accommodation on Poseidon Avenue as the place to stay. It is a level walk from the harbour and on the main bus route. There are several bars, shops and restaurants within easy walking distance.
The properties around the old town can be a little isolated from shops and restaurants and it is a little hilly.
Properites to look at the Dionysos, small 3 star property one of the older properties. The aparthotel Daphne is a reasonable self catering option.
If the budget allows the Annabelle has a good location and is well known for its service.
If your parents have not visited Paphos for several years tell them to expect many changes especially in Coral Bay and the area to the East of the Town.
