Travel to Greece in February?
edited August 2011

My family and I are considering traveling to Greece in February. It's off season, but is it still a good time to go?
It's depending on what you will do. To visit Athens, it's a good time, you have less other tourist, it's not hot like in summer..
But in winter it is often rainy, windy..
If you will visit some islands by ferry, the ferries do not as often go as in summer. Because of bad weather conditions, ferries can be cancelled..
And archaeological sites have shorter opening times as in summer!
Thanks - I'll be sure to check times, etc.
Any suggestions for family activities? I have two young children. (8 and 4)
Sorry, I have no children. In summer the beaches are great for them of course..

HI, Greece has many places to be visited in winter too, check out here: http://www.greekholidaydestinations.com/winter.html
YOU WILL BE GREATLY DISSAPOINTED IF YOU COME IN FEB. CAN BE VERY COLD AND YOU WILL BE STUCK IN YOUR ROOM. NOT MUCH TO DO AND ESPECIALLY WITH SMALL CHILDREN, THE WILL BE A BIG PROBLEM..SPRING AND FALL ARE THE BEST TIMES TO COME. MANNY
WHAT IS THE BEST TIME TO VISIT GREECE FOR BEACH WEATHER ?
Generally from May to September
I'd say both May and September will be a bit on the cold side, the best time to visit Greece is June or August. Greece in July tends to get overly hot, and is very crowded.
I am planning to visit Santorini, Greece in February. Can anybody please tell me how will be the weather & temperature?

Karizma1988k, Santorini can have bone chilling days in winter and snowfalls. Travelling to Santoriniin can also be a problem in winter as rough seas and high winds mean that airplanes and ferries are cancelled. Not all hotels have individual heating in the rooms in winter.
I lived in Greece for nearly three years and was surprised the first winter at just how cold and unpredictable the weather can be. One February I travelled to Crete for a long weekend, it rained and hailed as was bitter cold the whole time I was there.
If it were me I would travel in March still very quiet but the weather will be improving
Greece is one of our most trending holidays in Europe, for a dream honeymoon or that much yearned for second honeymoon! Selecting a good hotel can make or break your Greece holiday, because when you are going to Greece, you are going for the stunning islands.

Emmawatson, what rubbish you have written. You need to do your homework before you post.
Greece has been "trending" as a holiday destination since the 1960s. Greece is not just stunning islands. In fact the most beautiful and interesting places are not on the islands but on mainland Greece
You have obviously never been there

Just out of interest here is a report on the weather in Greece to day, its bitterly cold with snow even in the south of Greece and some of the islands.
