Located in the North-Eastern part of Africa, the Horn, Ethiopia is bounded on the East by Djiboutiand Somalia, on the North and North-East by Eritrea, on the South by Kenya and on the West bythe Sudan. Ethiopia is a country of great geographical diversity. It has high and rugged mountains, flat-toppedplateau called Ambas, deep gorges, river valleys and rolling plains. Its altitude ranges fromthe highest peak at RasDashen (4620 Metres above sea level) down to the Dalol depressionwhich is 148 metres below sea level. A large part of the country comprises of high plateau and mountain ranges with precipitous edges dissected by rushing streams that are tributaries ofbigger rivers.
